Redesigning SEPTA: Information Architecture Case Study

Overview

For my Information Architecture (IA) course, my team and I investigated the Southern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority’s website to best improve its IA. We carried out a wide variety of testing such as First click, card sorting, tree testing, and more. From this research, we summarized our findings for best optimizing the SEPTA site.

Results

We had trouble having enough participants for testing. We still found various parts of the structure to improve on. We had ideas for streamlining services for users such as more easily finding help and specific routes.

Conclusions

Overall, I learned quite a bit about working on public based websites as well as Information Architecture and testing methods. I feel prepared in regard to deciphering the best IA for sites based on conclusive research.
