Background
After settling in my product intern role at Visual Lease and completing a few light projects to get acquainted with the system, I was assigned to a much larger role that would be impactful and substantial but challenging. The mapping tool.
At the beginning the mapping tool was only an outline with a few basic wireframes. With that and my manager Terrence, I took off. I studied the users and the lease platform, repeatedly iterated on user flows and wireframes until I developed an extensive prototype that best served the users. Despite only being an intern, I was able to present to engineering and assist in directing the team during development.

Takeaways
I learned how to go through the entire product process of designing a feature and working with/as an associate product manager. I learned the role that a PM played such as communicating with engineering and presenting features and tools to others.
I would change the process that I followed for creating a feature. Since this was my first major project, I jumped around the process between the user flows, wireframes, and prototypes. Next time, I would learn more about requirements at the user flow stage and research more in general.
In the future I hope to further learn how a PM markets a tool and communicates with departments such as marketing, sales, and more.
